How to Change the Key Battery for the Volkswagen Polo

To replace the battery in your Volkswagen Polo key, you will need a small flat screwdriver, a coin, and a new CR 20/25 battery. Release the metal ignition key by pressing the metal button on the remote. In the key housing, insert the coin and lever on one side to remove the plastic cover over the battery. Now, use the flat screwdriver to lever out the battery. Insert the new battery in the correct orientation and reposition the cover over the battery. You can now check if the buttons on the remote work correctly.
