Volkswagen New Beetle - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen New Beetle 9C, MK 2 - Years 1999-2012
Part: Brake pads
Operation: Replacement of brake pads

This video tutorial shows the procedure for replacing the brake pads of a Volkswagen New Beetle. The wheel has already been removed and the car has already been raised. Unscrew the long piston-shaped screw with a 15mm wrench. After removing the brake caliper (even with the aid of a hammer) and moving it, remove the old worn pads and replace them with two new ones of the same type. Before installation, clean any grease and dust residues with a brush. Grease the components with copper grease, being careful not to grease the disc. Reassemble the bracket by cleaning and greasing the fixing screws, then always tighten them with a 15 mm wrench. Refit the caliper. Realign the piston by pushing it inwards and check the adherence of the pads to the disc. Once the work has been completed, restore the brake fluid.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
