Understanding Handbrake Operation

Once the engine is turned off, the hydraulic system that operates the brake calipers is deactivated: to lock the rear wheels by engaging the handbrake, it operates a lever mechanism via the corresponding cable, which controls a pin inside the caliper cylinder that is pushed and compresses the pads against the disc, preventing rotation. The video shows a rear brake caliper from which the brake pad actuator cylinder has been removed to demonstrate the activation of the push pin via the handbrake cable.

How to Reset the Central Locking of the Volkswagen Golf 4?
