Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial
Model: Volkswagen Golf
Golf 4, Golf IV, MK 4
- Years 1997-2003 In this video tutorial we can see how the steering heads of the Volkswagen Golf are replaced. The first thing to do is to lift the front part of the vehicle with a hydraulic jack and put some safety stands; at this point remove the front wheels, using a 17 socket wrench to unscrew the bolts. Once the wheel has been unscrewed, proceed to clean the fixing element that connects the heads to the tie rods to the steering knuckle. Memorize the precise position of the ball joint, to avoid misalignment during subsequent assembly. Unscrew the nut attaching the stem to the steering knuckle. Clean the head mounting seats with a power brush. Connect the tie rod to the knuckle joint. Clean the brake disc surface with a brake cleaner. Lower the car and tighten the wheel bolts.
