How to Remove and Change the Air Filter

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

After a certain mileage, or more frequently if driving on particularly dusty roads, the air filter should be changed. Each car has a specific filter and housing for that particular model. Consult the owner's manual or seek advice from someone more experienced. Gather some simple tools and, of course, the new filter. Remove any covers or shields to access the filter. Disconnect any cables connected to sensors if present. Open the filter housing by releasing the clips. Remove the filter, observing the direction of the arrow on the rubber edge of the filter. Clean the filter housing with a damp cloth. Ensure the new filter is compatible and insert it in place of the old one. Close the filter housing and reassemble everything as it was. Start the engine or take a test drive to ensure everything is in order.
