To replace the door lock on a Volkswagen Golf 5, remove the cover located on the side of the door to access the screws underneath. This will allow you to unscrew the bolt securing the external handle and remove it; you can then detach the outer panel of the door to access the components underneath. By doing this, you can unscrew the screws securing the actuator and its lock, disconnecting the cables and connectors: the old lock can then be replaced with a new one.
