Instructions for Alternator Repair

Model: Volkswagen Lupo MK 1 - Years 1998-2005

Before proceeding with the installation of the alternator, located at the front left of the engine bay (when viewed from the front), it is advisable to disconnect the battery and allow the engine to cool: the alternator is very close to the exhaust manifold. Disconnect the plug and cables connected to the alternator regulator, loosen the tensioner of the auxiliary belt, and free the alternator pulley to move on to unscrewing the fixing pins. Then proceed with the replacement of the plate (preferably done on a bench rather than with the alternator hanging in the engine bay) and the subsequent securing of the alternator by reapplying the auxiliary belt and reconnecting the plug and cables. Check the charging efficiency.
