The Volkswagen Routan remote uses a button cell battery with code C2032. Get one before proceeding to open the remote. It is advisable to keep a spare on hand for emergencies.

Let's proceed with the replacement. Remove the key blade and, using a screwdriver, take off the remote's frame.

Lift the keypad to access the battery, remove the old one, and replace it with the new battery, ensuring it is oriented correctly. Close the remote and reinsert the key blade.
