To disinfect the air conditioning system of the Volkswagen Golf VII, first remove the cabin air filter located behind the glove compartment. Then, dismantle the glove compartment and take out the filter. Take this opportunity to replace it. You can find it on Amazon for £10.50 plus £3.50 shipping. However, clean the compartment to remove any dust and dirt before fitting the new filter. Remember that the arrows on the filter should always point downwards. Reassemble everything. Now, remove the panel located on the passenger side. You will need to purchase a can of air conditioning sanitising spray. It is important that it is alcohol-based and does not foam, as wet foam could come into contact with electrical wires and connectors, causing damage. You can find it on major e-commerce platforms starting from £7.50. Connect to the air conditioning duct and spray. Then spray inside the air outlet grilles, inserting the tube deeply. With all windows closed and the grilles fully open, turn on the air conditioning to maximum for about ten minutes to dry the ducts.
