Volkswagen New Beetle - Video tutorial

Model: Volkswagen New Beetle 9C, MK 2 - Years 1999-2012
Part: Lock
Operation: How do you replace the ignition lock on the Volkswagen New Beetle?

In order to replace the ignition lock on the Volkswagen New Beetle, you need to loosen the screws that secure the cover to the lower part of the steering column: once this cover has been detached, it will be possible to locate the ignition lock underneath. The latter can be released from its seat by unscrewing the fixing screws and disconnecting the appropriate power cables: in this way the new block can be connected and suitably fixed. Finally, everything can be covered by inserting the lower steering column protection panel.

First of all we open the front door, on the driver's side, and start pulling the opening lever of the engine hood, in order to open the lock; then let's move to the front of the vehicle and unhook the tab that we find on the central part, above the manufacturer's emblem, as shown in the video. At this point we block the bonnet with the lateral rod; then we accompany the bonnet down to close it again!
