Dismantling and Replacing the Radio Antenna

Model: Volkswagen Golf MK 5, Golf 5, Golf V - Years 2003-2008

The first step is to remove the rear plastic trim from the roof held by four clips. Also, free the side covers of the pillars to lower the headlining and access the retaining bolt of the antenna base. Disconnect the connector and using a 22mm ratchet, undo the antenna retaining bolt. Remove the antenna and unscrew the two screws under the support to check the condition of the circuit inside. If there is any corrosion due to water ingress, it is advisable to replace the entire antenna. Refit the antenna, ensuring the rubber seal at the base is properly seated.
