The procedure for replacing the water pump on a Volkswagen Golf involves opening the bonnet to access the engine bay and locating the pump, which is situated at the front of the engine. Once located, remove the cover from the top of the engine block and disconnect various hoses and connectors to access the pump.

The pump will then need to be disconnected and freed from its housing by loosening its mounting bolts. Once the old pump is removed, you can install a new replacement part and reassemble all the previously removed components.
