- Years 2003-2008 Inside the Volkswagen Golf, the fuses are contained within the appropriate fuse boxes that are installed on the vehicle: there are two of them, one inside the passenger compartment and one inside the engine compartment. The first one is located on the left side of the dashboard, accessible by opening the driver's door: it contains the fuses that regulate the operation of the courtesy lights, the cigarette lighter, the air conditioning, etc. The second box is located on the right side of the engine compartment and contains the fuses for the alternator, the cooling fan, etc.
