Replacing the Cigarette Lighter Fuse on a Volkswagen Passat

The cigarette lighter socket is increasingly used, not as originally intended for lighting cigarettes, but for powering electrical accessories. It is more common for a power surge to blow the protective fuse. If this occurs, proceed with its replacement: locate the fuse box that contains the fuse in the dashboard area covered by the closed door next to the steering wheel, secured by a plastic cover that can be removed with a screwdriver. The fuse to replace is located at the bottom and is green, rated at 30A (if in doubt, consult the diagram in the user manual). Remove it with the appropriate tweezers, replace it with a new one, and refit the cover.
