Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial
Model: Volkswagen Golf
MK 4, Golf IV, Golf 4
- Years 1997-2003 In this video, we see how important it is to maintain the timing belt of a car like the Volkswagen Golf IV, based on both the time interval and not just the mileage. The car in question, which is now about 20 years old, had the timing belt changed at 100,000 km for the first time: now it only had 170,000 km but the time interval had been reached. The owner decided to change the belt anyway, and from examining the parts we see that he made the right choice, because the two belts were very worn, the water pump showed obvious signs of rust, and the bearings, while not yet damaged, were already making noises. In short, we intervened before something really serious could happen, just by respecting the time interval, following the good rule: "10 years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first".
