How to Replace the Fuel Pump on a VW Polo

Model: Volkswagen Polo MK III, Polo III, Polo 3, MK 3, 6N - Years 1994-2003

Typically, when you first turn the ignition on, you should hear the sound of the fuel pump activating from the rear of the cabin. If this does not happen, first check the integrity of the fuel pump's protection fuse. If the fuse is intact, it means the electric motor of the pump is damaged. On this model, you can replace just the motor of the pump without needing to change the entire assembly. Remove the rear seat to access the pump housing, take off the rubber protective cap, disconnect the pipes and power connector, then unscrew the securing ring and extract the complete assembly with the pump and float. Replace the pump motor and then reverse the steps for reassembly.
