How to put the rear brakes of the Volvo XC60 into maintenance mode.

Let's see the procedure to activate and deactivate the maintenance mode for the rear brakes on the Volvo XC60 (as well as the XC40 and V40) in order to replace the rear brake pads and discs. Without pressing the brake pedal, turn on the instrument panel: continue to hold the "start" button and simultaneously press the accelerator pedal all the way down. With your free hand, press down and hold the electric handbrake button. Press the start button once to turn off the instrument panel, and then press and hold it again. You will hear the handbrake motor activate, and the "P" button will start to flash. To reactivate it, make sure the "P" button on the handbrake is flashing, and repeat the previous procedure. The only difference will be that instead of pressing down on the handbrake button, you need to pull it towards you: you will hear the motor activate, and the indicator will stop flashing.
