Volvo S40 - Video tutorial

Model: Volvo S40 MK 1 - Years 1995-2004
Part: Battery
Operation: Battery replacement instructions

If you have to replace the battery and you do not want to run the risk that, by disconnecting the terminals, some control unit or device in the car can go into protection, you can proceed as shown in the video, or by applying cables to the terminals connected to an auxiliary battery. Therefore, once the fixing pins of the terminals have been loosened, before disconnecting them, apply the pliers of the cables connected to an auxiliary battery, obviously respecting the polarity; at this point it is possible to extract the clamps, remove the old battery, place the new one and reposition the clamps still connected to the cable clamps: only after having correctly inserted the clamps is it possible to disconnect the clamps. In this way, the control units and electronic devices will always be powered, even when removing the battery.
