Replacing the battery of the Volvo S40? Remove the battery if it is faulty and non-rechargeable. Open the car's door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located under the dashboard, then lift the front bonnet. You will find the battery on the right side of the engine compartment. Remove any battery cover, unscrew the securing bolts of the battery terminals. Remove the battery from the engine compartment. Install the new battery and screw in the terminal bolts (same voltage). Close the engine bonnet after maintenance. Start the Volvo's engine with the key and test the battery's functionality.
