Removing and Replacing the ABS Control Unit

Model: Volvo S80 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Control unit

First disconnect the negative terminal of the battery located in the rear boot, under the mat, on the left rear side (you need to remove the upper fastening plate).
The ABS control unit is located just below the fuse box in the engine compartment.
Open the front bonnet and remove the air filter housing by disconnecting the hose connected to the intake manifold, the intake duct near the radiator, and the connector of the mass air flow sensor: the air filter housing comes out simply by pulling it upwards.
Then disconnect the connector attached to the ABS control unit by pulling the securing clip outwards and unscrew the 4 fastening bolts of the unit from the pump, being careful not to drop them into the engine compartment.
At this point, remove the old control unit and install the new one by tightening the respective fastening bolts and reconnecting the plug to the terminal block (it simply clicks into place with the securing clip).
Finally, remount the air filter housing.
Reconnect the battery terminal, turn on the ignition and ensure that the ABS warning light on the dashboard is off.
