Audi A4 - Video tutorial

Model: Audi A4 B6 - Years 2000-2004
Part: Coolant temperature sensor
Operation: Thermostat replacement instructions

The thermostat is located at the rear of the engine, in a central position, just in front of the battery compartment which is located just below the windshield. Start by opening the front hood, removing the intake duct, removing the engine air filter housing by disconnecting the hoses and the mass air sensor socket. Remove the aluminum casing on the side of the monobloc; then the metal fittings that pass sideways to the motor and go towards the thermostat: be ready to replace any rubber fittings that can be damaged during disassembly. At this point, disassemble the thermostat by first removing the depressor which is connected to the monobloc and is located right in front: there is little room for maneuver and the operation is not that simple. Once the thermostat has been removed, carefully clean its seat on the cylinder block and proceed with the installation of the new one, including the temperature sensor and gaskets.
