Replacing the Coolant Pump and Thermostat

First, remove the plastic covers from the air intake ducts, the air filter box, and the filter itself, disconnecting it from the hose that follows in the circuit and from the connector. Disconnect the upper hose from the radiator and remove the cooling fan by loosening the nut that holds it with a wrench, and a second one that locks its rotation. Next, remove the plastic cover of the fan by disconnecting it from the connectors and plastic clips. Once the cover is removed, you can also take out the fan. By removing the lower hose, drain the circuit of the fluid. Loosen the tensioner bearing to remove the serpentine belt, making the water pump bearing free. Unscrew the nuts that hold the pulley on the pump hub, then proceed to unscrew the bolts anchoring the pump to the engine block, but first remove the thermostat located above the pump itself. Replace the serpentine belt after removing the old one. Before reassembling the new components, thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the parts to be reinstalled, which should be moistened with a special spray to prevent impurities from interfering with the sealing of the circuit. Then reassemble everything, paying attention to correctly tension the belt, adjusting the tension with the tensioner bearing. Once the pieces are reassembled, fill the circuit with coolant from the reservoir next to the radiator and eliminate any air bubbles by partially unscrewing a plug located at the base of the radiator. When the fluid flows out smoothly, there will be no more air, and then tighten the plug again. Once the fluid level is restored, the job is complete.
