Fuel Pump Disassembly Instructions

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Pump

The fuel pump is located under the rear seat, on the passenger side, and is installed directly inside the tank. Once you remove the seat and the rubber protective cap, disconnect the connector and the hoses. Then, unscrew the pump retaining ring (you can tap on one of the ribs with a screwdriver and hammer) and pull the pump out of the tank along with the bucket and float, being careful not to lose the gasket underneath inside the tank. Generally, you can purchase just the motor for the pump overhaul in the aftermarket.
