Replace Fuel Tank Cap Gasket
Model: BMW Serie 7
E68, E65, MK 4, E67, E66
- Years 2001-2008
The fuel tank cap is equipped with a gasket that seals the tank, preventing the escape of vapors generated inside the tank due to increased pressure; these vapors are directly introduced into the intake manifold through a valve that detects the pressure increase in the tank. A failure of the cap gasket will result in decreased pressure in the tank, triggering the check engine light on the dashboard; replacing the cap gasket is obviously very simple.
