Removing the Shift Lever Frame

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006

To remove the frame on the center console at the base of the shift lever, first remove the shift knob: grasp the knob while pressing the button on the automatic transmission selector and pull it upward firmly to detach it; now remove the boot around the shift lever to access the screws securing the frame and remove it as well; once the frame and its connectors are detached, you can also remove the window switch controls and fully free the frame.
