Cleaning the MAF Sensor on a BMW Engine

If your BMW engine is experiencing power issues and excessive fuel consumption, the cause may be a dirty MAF sensor that is not communicating properly with the ECU. To clean it, open the bonnet and locate the sensor on the pipe coming from the air filter.

Start by disconnecting the electrical connector using a lever, unscrew the two hex screws that secure the sensor, and remove it. Place it on a work surface and spray a specific cleaning solution on all parts.

Wait for it to dry, then refit the sensor in its place, secure it with the screws, and reconnect the connector.
