What are CC-ID codes and how to obtain them on a BMW vehicle

Model: BMW BMW Various
Part: Instrument cluster

First of all: what are CC-ID codes? They are a set of unique identifiers associated with electronic components of the vehicle. They allow for precise identification within the vehicle's electronic system, enabling technicians to accurately locate the faulty component. Furthermore, it is possible to associate specific software updates through these codes, ensuring that every part of the vehicle is equipped with the latest firmware. The CC-ID codes are stored in the electronic control units, and in the video we can see how they can also be read by the user: we turn on the vehicle using the start button and then press the "BC" button located on the left side of the steering wheel, scroll through the menu until "check" appears. Press the lever downwards, hold it down, and we will see the CC-ID codes displayed. Pressing again will show more codes.

Replacing the fog light bulb on the passenger side, which uses an H11 fitting (the bulb holder also integrates the connector for the power supply), can be done either by accessing from underneath the vehicle by removing some covers, or more simply by dismantling the headlight. Once the headlight is removed, it is easy to reach the fog light housing and release the bulb by rotating the entire bulb holder. Disconnect the connector, connect the new bulb, and insert it into the bulb holder, rotating it until it locks in place.
