Replacing the Timing Belt

Replacing the timing belt is not typical DIY maintenance as an installation error could severely damage the engine; however, if you wish to attempt this repair, proceed as follows: lift the vehicle on suitable car stands and remove the front right wheel and the corresponding wheel arch liner to access the pulleys; then place a jack under the engine to support it as the side mount also needs to be removed; next, remove the auxiliary belt and take off the crankshaft pulley; rotate the crankshaft to align the timing marks, loosen the tensioner, and remove the timing belt to install the new one without rotating the pulleys.
