How to change the battery of the Citroen C4 Picasso

On the Citroen C4 Picasso, the battery is located in the engine compartment and, depending on the configuration, access may be partially obstructed by ducts and the air filter box. Before proceeding, turn off the vehicle, remove the key, and wait a few minutes to reduce the risk of electronic anomalies; work with the hood open, on level ground, and wear gloves, avoiding any contact between tools and terminals. Open the hood and locate the battery area. If space is limited, clear the access by moving or removing the intake components that prevent comfortable access to the terminals and fastenings, being careful not to force any pipes or wiring. Once visible, disconnect the connections following a safety logic: first disconnect the negative terminal and place it where it cannot come into contact again, then disconnect the positive terminal. If there are brackets, covers, or a group with connectors/fuses next to the battery, detach and move only what is necessary to extract the battery body without pulling on the cables. Remove the battery fastening system (bracket or lower block) and pull the battery upward with a firm grip, as it is heavy. Clean the housing and position the new battery in the same orientation as the previous one, ensuring it is properly seated. Reattach the fastening and tighten it so that the battery cannot move during driving and vibrations. Then reconnect the terminals in the reverse order: first the positive, then the negative, tightening them correctly and restoring any removed covers and connectors. Reattach the intake components and air filter box if they were removed to make space, ensuring that clamps and ducts are well secured to avoid abnormal air intakes. Finally, check that there are no live wires, that the terminals are stable to the touch, and that the starting and electrical services work properly; if there are settings to restore (time/date or comfort functions), perform the reconfiguration from the onboard system.
