Dodge Caliber - Video tutorial

Model: Dodge Caliber MK 1 - Years 2006-2012
Part: Engine head
Operation: Head gasket problem

If it happens that the engine runs irregularly as if, as they say in the jargon, it misses a few strokes, then we can hypothesize a problem with the spark plugs or ignition coils; in fact, by checking the fault memory in the engine management control unit, a fault is found related to the misfire of cylinder one (the cylinders start to count on the distribution side) and in fact, leaving the engine running, disconnecting the first coil the defect remains unchanged. Furthermore, checking the operating parameters and the operating temperature of the coolant liquid, it seems a bit excessive which also suggests a defect in the seal of the cylinder head gasket: then test the nine, remove the ignition coils and the spark plugs of the first and of the second cylinder and try to start the engine; you notice splashes of water coming out of the first cylinder which confirms the problem with the cylinder head gasket (obviously when water enters the cylinder the spark plug is unable to detonate the mixture and the engine runs irregularly). This demonstrates how experience exceeds the effectiveness of the diagnostic tool, in fact, based on the fault code, the coil would have been improperly replaced but certainly without solving the problem.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
