This video demonstrates the maintenance of the electrical system on a classic Fiat 500. To provide a better view, the YouTuber has removed the spare wheel. First, remove the old battery located directly beneath the spare wheel and replace it with a new one, reconnecting the cables.

Next, check that there is oil in the engine and ensure the alternator is functioning. Then, check the ignition coil: this can be done with a tester or a test light (the video shows how to build this component, which requires only a few steps).

The coil works, but you must check that the wiring sends current to the distributor. To do this, remove the cap and check that the points are open.

Once done, reconnect the test light to verify functionality. A second verification method is also illustrated for added safety.

After this check, clean the distributor of any oil residue. Now, check the functionality of the spark plugs and their respective leads.

You will need an assistant to start the vehicle. By bringing the spark plug close to a ground point, a spark should occur.

If all is well, you can refit the spark plug.
