How to Replace the Clutch on a Ford Focus

To replace the clutch on a Ford Focus, start by disconnecting the battery and safely lifting the vehicle. Remove the front wheels and detach the drive shafts from the gearbox. Disconnect the gearbox connections, such as selector cables, sensors, and supports. Next, support the engine with a stand or jack and unscrew the bolts that secure the gearbox to the engine. Once freed, lower and carefully remove the gearbox. With the gearbox removed, you will have access to the clutch assembly. Unscrew the bolts of the pressure plate and remove the old clutch kit (disc, pressure plate, and release bearing). Check the condition of the flywheel and replace or machine it if necessary. Install the new clutch kit using a centring tool to align the disc. Finally, refit the gearbox and all removed components, tighten the bolts to the specified torque, and check the proper functioning of the clutch pedal before using the vehicle.
