How do you change the engine oil and filter on a Ford Focus? Let’s look at the replacement process. Open the car door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, then lift the front bonnet and unscrew the oil cap. Raise the car on a jack and unscrew the bolt from the oil sump; allow the fluid to drain into a container. Using a socket wrench, unscrew the large securing bolt of the container where the oil filter is located. Remove the worn oil filter and install a new one. Finally, top up with new fluid and close the front bonnet.
