How to Replace the Clutch Cylinder on Ford Escape/Kuga

To replace the clutch cylinder on a Ford Escape or Ford Kuga, which is the European version of the Escape, the first step is to disconnect the battery terminals and remove the battery cover to take it out. Also, remove the battery base by unscrewing the mounting screws. This will give you easy access to the flexible hose and allow you to unscrew the bolts holding the clutch cylinder in place. Once removed, spray it well with a penetrating fluid to extract the probe. Insert the probe into the new part and reinstall it in place. Tighten the part securely. Refill the brake fluid and operate the clutch pedal from inside to ensure it works and that the mechanism is functioning properly. At this point, you can reposition the battery, starting with its support, then the battery itself, its hold-down, reconnect the terminals, and you're done.
