Ford Focus - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Focus MK 2, Focus 2 - Years 2004-2011
Part: Timing belt
Operation: How to replace the timing belt of the Ford Focus 1.6TDCI.

To replace the timing belt of the Ford Focus 1.6 tdci, we need to get Continental components; the distribution kit with water pump CT1092WP1, the vibration damper VD1094, and the mounting set MS08, also obtaining the tool box V04. Before adjusting the engine to top dead center, we remove the upper and lower belt covers (first removing the vibration damper) and tighten the screw to rotate the engine. To adjust the top dead center, we need to consider 3 markings, so we insert a pin at the bottom of the crankshaft, one on the fuel pump (hole at about 5 o'clock), and one on the camshaft gear. Before loosening and removing the belt, we remove the sensor and the belt guide; loosen the screw on the tensioner pulley and then we can remove the belt. For the water pump, only use the supplied gasket, without applying any additional paste (it can detach and clog the circuit, use only new coolant and flush the system). Proceed to replace the components; check that the gears are not damaged; to install the new tensioner pulley, make sure that the "U" of the pulley is positioned between the pins and tighten it; fit the new belt clockwise starting from the crankshaft gear, and when the belt is installed, remove the pin from the tensioner pulley, rotate the hex key counterclockwise until the adjustment tab is in the recess, and tighten the bolt. After correctly adjusting the belt with the tensioner pulley, remove the locking tools and rotate the engine 10 times forward; to reinstall the sensor, be careful not to touch the sensor ring, and on the other side, install the belt guide. To install the new vibration damper, pay attention to the correct mounting position and insert the tab into the appropriate slot, apply the belt cover (upper and lower) and secure the damper with the new supplied screw (with a torque wrench of 30nm + 180 degrees), locking the flywheel with the appropriate pin.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
