How to Replace the Timing Belt on a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI

To replace the timing belt on a Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI, you will need to obtain continental components; the timing kit with water pump CT1092WP1, the vibration damper VD1094, and the installation set MS08, along with the tool box V04; before setting the engine to top dead centre, remove the upper and lower timing belt covers (first remove the vibration damper) and re-screw the bolt to turn the engine. To set the top dead centre, consider 3 markings, then insert a pin at the bottom of the crankshaft, one at the fuel pump (hole at about 5 o'clock), and one on the camshaft sprocket; before loosening and removing the belt, detach the sensor and the belt guide; loosen the bolt on the tensioner and then you can remove the belt. For the water pump, use only the supplied gasket, without applying any additional paste (it may detach and clog the circuit, use only new coolant and flush the circuit). Proceed to replace the components; check that the gears are not damaged; to install the new tensioner, ensure that the 'U' of the roller is positioned between the pins and tighten; fit the new belt clockwise starting from the crankshaft sprocket, and when the belt is installed, remove the pin from the tensioner, turn the Allen bolt counterclockwise until the adjustment tab is in the recess and tighten the bolt. After correctly adjusting the belt via the tensioner, remove the locking tools and run the engine for 10 revolutions forward; to reattach the sensor, be careful not to touch the sensor ring and on the other side, install the belt guide. To install the new vibration damper, ensure the correct mounting position and insert the tab into the appropriate slot, apply the belt cover (upper and lower) and secure the damper with the new supplied bolt (using a torque wrench at 30 Nm + 180 degrees) locking the flywheel with the appropriate pin.
