How to Replace the Battery on Ford S-Max and Galaxy MK1

In this video, you will see how to replace the battery in a Ford S-Max (or a Galaxy, the procedure is identical). The battery is located at the rear left of the engine bay. Between the battery and the fuse box, there is a point where you can disconnect the battery; isolate the cable with a piece of rubber tubing. To improve access, it is recommended to remove the air filter box and disconnect the wiring, then remove the duct and finally lift the air filter housing from its supports. Disconnect the connectors from the panel and remove the plastic cover from the battery. Unscrew the cable and disconnect the positive terminal, isolating the clamp. Open the lifting handles and remove the battery from its housing. Now you can disconnect the negative terminal. For reassembly, start by connecting the negative terminal, then apply some grease; place the battery back in its seat and reattach the retaining clamp. Reconnect the positive terminal and apply grease to this as well, remount the plastic cover and position the connector block. Remove the piece of plastic tubing placed earlier and tighten the earth cable. Now reposition the air filter assembly, connecting the cable, the plug, and the duct. Job done.
