How to Remove and Replace the Fuel Filter

This video shows you step by step how to change the fuel filter. Open the bonnet and locate the filter and its housing as shown in the video. As a precaution, disconnect the battery cable. Start by disconnecting the lower fuel pipe using two spanners. Obtain a container or rags to catch any fuel that may still be in the filter. Now loosen the upper screw as well. Be careful of the copper washers that act as seals. Now unscrew the three screws of the support bracket. At this point, on your workbench, you have the filter still attached to its bracket. Unscrew the last screw of the support, remembering the original position of the filter. In this case, the rusted screw broke while attempting to loosen it, so it is advisable to spray some penetrating oil. Once the old filter is free, reinstall the new one, paying attention to the arrow indicating the fuel flow. Remember to replace the washers and rubber rings for securing the support to the bodywork. Additionally, now that you have the filter and bracket still free, it is advisable to attach the lower pipe to avoid doing it when the bracket is already fixed, as it would be more difficult. Insert the pipe, tightening the screw by hand for the moment. Now secure the support. Finally, tighten the screws of the lower pipe using the two spanners. Remove the protective cap from the new filter and insert the screw with the pipe, ensuring to replace the copper washers. After you have reassembled everything, turn the ignition key 3-4 times so that the pump operates and the filter fills again. Check for any fuel leaks. Car model: Honda Civic/Accord Year: 1990
