How to disassemble the EGR valve from a Hyundai 2.2 CRDI engine.

This operation should be done with the engine cold, after disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery. On newer models, the EGR valve is water-cooled, so we will also need to disconnect the coolant that will come out of the two coolant hoses.

The EGR valve is located on the rear side of the engine, between the exhaust manifold and the intake manifold. It is a metallic component shaped like a small box with an electrical connector and two hoses, one for the exhaust gases and the other for the coolant.

We will need to make space by removing the plastic covers of the engine and disconnecting the throttle body. Remove the electrical connector from the EGR valve.

Disconnect the coolant hoses (if present), being careful not to spill the fluid; disconnect the exhaust gas hose, which may be very caked, so it may be necessary to use a penetrating oil. The EGR valve is secured to the intake manifold with 4 bolts that are not very easy to reach; be careful not to let them fall into the engine.

Remove the valve, but it may be stuck due to the deposits.

Now we see that the internal passage is completely blocked. Do not use sharp tools, but a specific degreaser for this purpose, such as Arexons, which we can find on Amazon with the code B01FY0IDDQ at the price of 15.10 euros, with free delivery for Prime customers.

Spray generously and let it act, then clean with a plastic spatula. Do the same with the intake manifold.

Before reassembling, replace the gasket and proceed in reverse order.
