How to Replace the Oil and Filter of the Jeep Wrangler

Model: Jeep Wrangler MK 3, JK - Years 2007-2018

The first step to replace the oil is to get a container that can fit under the vehicle to collect the used oil. Position the container under the drain plug of the oil sump, unscrew the plug, and let the oil drain completely. Next, move to the upper engine compartment, and locate the oil filter (near the timing belt) and unscrew it with a suitable spanner. After applying some oil to the filter gasket, screw it back into place. Then, screw the drain plug back into the oil sump. Finally, add approximately 5 litres of SAE 5W-30 oil and check the level with the dipstick. Once finished, check for any leaks from either the drain plug in the oil sump or the filter.

To check the oil level on a Jeep Renegade, you need to open the bonnet to access the components inside the engine bay: on the lower left side of the engine block, you will find the dipstick for checking the level.
