How to Fit Front Shock Absorbers

In the following video, front shock absorbers are replaced and installed on a Kia Sorento. The procedure is quite complex and requires good tools and excellent manual skills. First, lift the vehicle on a ramp and remove the front wheel. Disconnect the brake fluid line, the indicated 19 mm bolt, and the support clip for the Flow sensor. Remove the airbox cover and the corresponding filter. With access to the 12 mm bolts, you can also remove the lower part of the airbox. Two 14 mm bolts will now be visible and need to be unscrewed. Part of the difficulty in the procedure is due to the fact that the shock absorbers are well hidden. For this reason, after disconnecting the negative terminal, you will also need to remove the battery. Now you can unscrew the four bolts that secure the shock absorber at the top. After unscrewing the upper control arm bolt with a 14 mm spanner, move the wheel (caliper, disc, etc.) aside, then extract and remove the shock absorber to be replaced. Remember that it is necessary to compress the springs before opening the spring/shock absorber compartment. To do this, you will need the appropriate tools as shown in the video. Once the shock absorber is replaced, proceed to reposition it in the same position as before and reassemble everything as it was.
