How to Maintain and Clean the Fuel Pump of the Land Rover Defender

To access the pump, it is common to make a hole in the floor of the Defender. Almost everyone has it, because otherwise, we would have to disassemble the entire vehicle, while this hole allows easy access. First, remove all the dirt that has accumulated. Any method works: vacuum, blower, brush. Disconnect the diesel lines and the electrical connector. If you want to ensure everything goes back in place, take a photo first. If they are difficult to move, use a bit of WD-40. With the proper wrench that the YouTuber shows at the beginning of the video, unscrew the pump cover; be careful with the lines. When pulling out the pump, watch out for the float. Blow it out with the compressor. If it is very dirty, clean it with a small brush slightly dampened with gasoline. Do not use anything else as it could damage the plastics. Pay close attention when reassembling the pump and reinserting the tank. Reconnect the plugs (the photo we took earlier will help here) and we are good to go. Now we need to perform a diesel priming procedure before restarting the engine. Remember to add an additive to prevent algae and dirt every time you fill up.
