The error codes found were 20D300 (specific to Mercedes) "left AGR actuator" and the generic code P0403 "EGR control circuit." The two codes indicate a problem with the electric actuator of the EGR valve, not just a blockage. To remove the EGR valve, start by disconnecting the electrical connector and removing the two Torx screws. The valve will be caked and stuck; do not try to force it out, but use the technique shown in the video, wrapping a strap around the valve body and gently rocking it to free it from its housing. Clean it thoroughly with a specific EGR cleaner, but first check the internal unit of the actuator. If it is seriously damaged, you will need to replace the entire valve. For reassembly, clean the mounting seat on the manifold and install the EGR valve with a new gasket. Reinstall the screws and reconnect the connector. Use the diagnostic tool again to clear the errors.
