Replacing the Coolant Temperature Sensor

Model: Mercedes Classe E W211 - Years 2002-2009
Part: Engine coolant temperature sensor

Open the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for safety. The sensor is located on the engine block near the water pump. Remove the radiator expansion tank cap, and disconnect the various water hoses to access the sensor for easier removal. Disconnect the wire connector and remove the retaining screws of the sensor. Pull the sensor out of its housing and install the new sensor after cleaning the seat of any dirt. Then, reassemble the various components that were removed. Reconnect the connector and refill the coolant.
