How to Check and Replace the Automatic Transmission Fluid in a Mercedes C-Class

To check, top off, and replace the transmission fluid, follow these steps: lift the vehicle and locate the drain and fill plug for the automatic transmission under the engine protection cover. If necessary, use a transmission cleaning additive before replacement. Then, drain all the fluid, making sure to place a container underneath to catch the used oil. To completely drain the fluid, use a screwdriver to pop out the level tube, then remove the pan and check the cleanliness of the filter, reinstalling the level tube in the meantime. Reinstall the pan and connect the fill kit to the fill plug (about 5 quarts). Proceed to fill and tighten the plug.
