How to Replace Engine Oil and Filter

Here is a tutorial that will be useful if you want to replace the engine oil in your Mercedes C 230 Kompressor. Ensure that the engine is cold, then use an 8 mm socket to remove the nuts securing the shield protecting the underside of the vehicle; this will give you access to the oil pan underneath. Take a container for disposing of the old oil and place it under the pan. Using a 13 mm wrench, unscrew the lower plug of the pan and let the old oil drain into the container. Meanwhile, using the appropriate tool, unscrew the cap with the attached filter and, over another container, remove the old filter from its cap. Remove the three old gaskets and after lubricating them, place them on the new filter. After about twenty minutes (when the old oil has completely drained), reinstall the lower plug of the pan. Refill the oil according to the quantities indicated in the maintenance manual and check the level. In these types of models, the oil level is checked electronically on the onboard computer (not via a dipstick).
