Automatic Transmission Oil and Filter Replacement

Replacing the oil and filter in the automatic transmission is very important to ensure optimal lubrication and allow for smooth gear engagement. Start by checking the level and color of the oil using a flexible dipstick inserted through the designated tube in the engine compartment. Raise the vehicle and drain the oil from the transmission through the designated drain plug. Once the oil is fully drained, remove the bolts securing the oil pan to access the filter integrated within the pan. Remove the old filter and install the new one, clean the bottom of the pan before reinstalling it, and check the integrity of the gasket. Finally, fill the transmission with the appropriate oil.
