Cleaning the Intake Duct and Throttle Body on a Mini Cooper

To perform this operation, you will need a specific throttle body cleaner, such as LiquiMoly, which can be found on Amazon with the code B01MSW4I21 for £15.90, with free delivery. Inside the engine, locate the intake hose connected to the throttle body and remove it. Check the condition of the throttle body: the one in the video is very dirty, especially on the closing edge, which causes an irregular idle, loss of power, and increased fuel consumption. Spray the cleaner directly into the intake duct to dissolve carbon deposits, using small bursts and allowing the product to work for a few seconds. Then spray on the throttle plate and the internal walls; do not force the throttle if it is motorised. The spray, drawn into the engine, also cleans the intake valves and the lambda sensor. It is recommended to make light applications of the product. After cleaning, the engine may have an irregular idle for a few minutes, but this is normal: the system needs to adapt to the new parameters.
