How to replace the engine oil filter on an Opel Astra? Follow this guide to proceed with the replacement. Open the car door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, then lift the front bonnet and secure it. Using a socket spanner, unscrew the large securing bolt of the oil filter housing. Remove the worn oil filter and install a new one (after draining the fluid). Lift the car on a jack and unscrew the bolt of the oil sump; allow the fluid to drain into a container. Finally, top up with new fluid and close the front bonnet.
