Replacing the Rear Brake Pads on the Opel Astra J

The first step to replace the brake pads on your Opel Astra J is to remove the wheel secured by the 5 nuts. Next, using a hex key, preferably a ratchet, remove the two nuts that secure the brake caliper to the wheel hub. One is located at the bottom and one at the top of the bracket. Once the caliper is released, lever it from the bottom upwards to detach it from the disc, making the brake pad housing accessible by hand. You may use a rigid tool or a long screwdriver for assistance. Now remove the old pads, ensuring proper disposal, and position the new ones. If the pad is correct, it will fit perfectly in the space and will be secured with clips to the caliper. Reassemble everything and top up the brake fluid.
