Why should we disable ECO mode on a Peugeot 508?

The procedure to deactivate Eco mode on the Peugeot 508 is very simple: we turn on the ignition, open the glove compartment, press the "eco" button, and the mode is deactivated. But why would we want to deactivate it? Eco mode sacrifices responsiveness for fuel savings. In certain contexts, it can be dangerous: overtaking on two-lane roads, where we need an instant response, merging onto the highway, steep inclines, perhaps with a load. If one chooses a car for the pleasure of driving, Eco mode can ruin that feeling because the pedal gives a poor sensation; if you have an automatic transmission, it always chooses the highest gear, and there is still a general sense of "slowness." In summer, the power of the air conditioning is reduced, as it is one of the biggest energy consumers. In the city, Eco mode can be counterproductive because the sluggish response of the engine leads the driver to press the accelerator harder. Eco mode makes sense for long highway trips, or if we are low on fuel, or if we are in the city but the driving is smooth.
